Update v028 - Modular Snaps

24/04/2026 · Patch Notes · Sapphire Safari

Well now. DIdn’t expect this patch to take as long as it did but here we are. Version 028 for Sapphire Safari just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. The original plan was simply to just add a few upgrade paths for the camera, allowing players to customize how their camera behaves. This led to “how do players get new upgrades?” and pushed the shop into the patch. Opening up another can “how do players get money?” which is the bounty system. Then we had to spread out the shop progression and led to the Research Level overhaul. Leading to needing a good amount of filler shop items, so we remastered the throwing tech and wardrobe customization for good measure. Then we required a robust system for turning off and on camera systems, leading to the new version of the Camera Options. Phew… As a result the early game feeling and progression got smoothed out, there is now a satisfying feeling and rewards sprinkled throughout the gameplay experience.

Let’s talk about it!

Bounties and Coins

The underlying mechanic to fuel the new progression is cash/money/coins/funding and the systems to gain it. Bounties are a new daily photography challenge that is entirely sex-focused. Your goal; take photos of particular creatures doing particular acts, such as masturbation, sex acts, etc. And take those photos to the bounty terminal inside your campsite. You cannot remotely upload these photos, and you’ll need to return to the camp on foot and before 9am the following day. Submitting correctly will net you cash to spend!

Each day a new character–whose model is currently in production–called Mr. Hands (voiced by VoidSlut) will call you with three randomized bounties which you can actively pursue or ignore.

Cash will be found in just about all acts on the island you do. Finding expedition logs, unlocking achievements, finishing quests, bounties, and leveling up the Research Level. If you open an old save you will get the coins retroactively.

Shopping and Tools and Wardrobe

Now that you have your cash money, you can spend it at the Shop console. Here you will have access to twenty different items and upgrades to purchase. Most will have additional tiers that will unlock a higher performance, an additional quantity of the item, and in the case of camera modules–it will make them smaller thus easier to fit onto the camera board. When a user gains Research Level they will unlock additional items to purchase in the shop, so you’ll always be progressing your abilities! The shop contains:

  • Camera Modules: Upgrade components for the camera, offering additional systems, filters, lighting, and improvements.

  • Camera Boards: Increase the size of the area for module installation.

  • Camera Lenses: A quick swap item for your camera changing the focal length and shutter style of the photography.

  • Wildlife Tools: Throwable items to help in your adventure on Sapphire Island (still a work in progress).

  • Props and Toys: Throwable items that will offer unique interactions with the natives (still a work in progress).

  • Photographer Cosmetics: Change the look of your photographer with costumes.

A new interaction point was added to the Campsite for refilling your throwable items called the Wildlife Toolbox. You will need to visit this box to refill your throwables back in the camp. The team also spent some time improving how the photographer throws items, so hitting that Major League achievement is that much easier now!

The Wardrobe received some TLC as well, now you can interact with it to be able to choose which cosmetic you wish to apply to the active photographer. There is a total of five options now, with three of them being locked behind a shop purchase. The options include:

  • Swimwear (standard costume)

  • Light Swimware

  • Fitness Fit

  • Safari Suit

  • Nude

All of these items are tracked towards the completion percentage of Sapphire Safari, so you will need to grind away on bounties if you want to unlock that coveted S License. You can find the tracking data inside the Collectables Tab inside the Guide Book.

Workshop and Camera Options for Tinkering

The camera at your side is your trusty companion, and as such you should know it inside and out. With the new Workbench upgrade inside the Campsite you can now modify the internal systems of the camera by installing Camera Modules purchased from the Shop interface. These modules will fundamentally change how the camera operates.

Modules are physical components you need to fit into the camera board, you’ll find that you won't have enough space to fit everything at first. But as you upgrade your modules they will decrease in size allowing for more items to fit together. You’ll also be able to upgrade the camera board size as well, this will increase the spaces available to install modules on. Here are the currently available modules:

  • Photo Storage Increase: Increase the temp storage by 3. There are 6 tiers available.

  • Image Processing Speed: Decrease the wait time on new photo processing. There are 4 tiers available.

  • Frame Buffer Increase: Add additional shots to the camera. Each increase independently recharges. There are 3 tiers available.

  • Spectral Capture Filter: Allows the camera to view and process spectral entities.

  • Flash Upgrade: Photos taken with the upgrade active will be lit with a flash of light. Useful at night.

  • Manual Focus: Allows the camera to be manually focused. Enabling this disables auto focus systems.

With all the new module systems we needed a reliable way for these tools to be turned toggled around. As such the Camera Options menu (accessed by tapping X) is the place you access these systems. If you have purchased a lens or installed a module with a system option (like the Flash Lighting or Manual Focus) you can toggle these options at any point inside the menu.

For categories inside the options menu with more than one option inside it, you can only select one of them at a time. Selecting another will just change which one is equipped. This way you cannot have Auto Focus and Manual Focus activated at the same time or more than one lens active.

In terms of the offerings currently in the shop, these are just the basic offerings we have put together. A lot more is coming as we start to finish up the fundamental systems in the game. Just one final note here, the throwable tools and toys are all a work in progress. This is because we need more advanced AI systems to make unique behaviors for the items, these will be finalized when the Lifestyle Director is complete.

Modesty Mode

The last major system change in v028 is the brand new Modesty Mode. This mode is designed for content creators and those looking to play the game around other people. It covers the adult aspects of the game, removing a lot of the nudity or making it more “modest”. We have a couple options:

Creature Modesty Options

  • Native Attire: Adds three randomized clothing options to “cover” genitals. You will still see them if you look hard enough.

  • Mosaics: Blurs genitals with a mosaic. If you get close enough you will bypass it.

Sex Modesty Options

  • Mosaics: Blurs the entire sex act. If you get close enough you will bypass it.

  • Cloud: Creates a fully covered cloud of lust, covers everything only your imagination will bypass it.

It is not recommended you try to stream with these settings, as they can easily fail if you try hard enough. It is more for people looking to make recorded content for the game, where additional censorship can be added if needed. We wanted to take the burden of censoring the game away from content creators.

General Updates

Obviously we are not gonna do a patch without fixing a bunch of stuff. Check out the changelog below for more details on what was changed, but the big one is the update to Unreal Engine 5.7 for additional animation tools and such.

With this we have marked off four more items off the Phase One roadmap! Soon this will be complete and our push into beta will be done, and the content push will begin!

Thank you all very much for being patient with us, this change was very much needed and should give everyone a very good idea on how we intend to handle game progression moving forward. We are super excited to see all the feedback and the like you all will naturally have with this change! Your saves will work perfectly fine, but why not give a new game a chance? The progression will feel pretty nice as you play.
