RUSSIA BANNED OUR GAME (because of "Gay Propaganda")

19/03/2026 · Other · Slaves of Rome

In the past days, we saw a lot of Russian players complaining about not being able to buy our game "Slaves of Rome". We were confused and kept saying we didn't do anything active and maybe it's the sanctions but after some further research, today, we learned that Slaves of Rome was manually banned by Russian censorship, known as Roskomnadzor for spreading "Gay propaganda". So we wanted to give a short, "official" answer and explain to our Russian players what happened.

Just so you understand - at least as far as we understand - this is a manual ban! Someone from the Russian government, actually played the game and asked Steam to ban it because of gay propaganda! Which is.. just mind-blowing to us.

And you know what? We are proud of that. We are proud to stand alongside the gay, trans and free sexuality communities against oppression censorship.

From day one, we always openly said that we want Slaves of Rome to be open to everyone! LGBTQ+, subs, doms - we always dreamed of giving every sexual option that we could to our players and welcome everyone. We will not change our ways and no ban or censorship will make us remove this content from the game. Truth be told, we don't know what exactly gay "propaganda" is, we don't think it's an actual thing. We always made sure that gay content is a choice in our game, for those who want it and not a must, but we sure are happy to be on the right side of free speech and take this ban as a badge of honor.

Every person should be able to play games like he wants to. Gay, straight, dom, subs, male, female, futa... whoever and whatever they are. We will continue to stand together with like-minded players and provide the best, most open and free sexual content that we can in our games.
