Willow's exact opposite, and somehow her best friend. Bright, loud, colorful enough to be visible from orbit, and running on a caffeine intake that should legally be classified as a controlled substance. Astrid is the one who actually gets people to talk — she'll have a stranger's life story before Willow has finished ordering coffee.

Together, they shouldn't work as a team. Together they're terrifyingly effective.

A new drug is moving through Loverse — and it's not like anything that's come before. It's designed specifically to amplify sensations inside VR. Users describe experiences so intense the line between simulation and reality starts to dissolve. Some of them love it. Some of them don't come back the same.

Willow and Astrid are following the trail: who's cooking it, who's pushing it, and why the people going deepest are the ones disappearing. Expect noir-flavored sleuthing, uncomfortable stakeouts, undercover work neither of them is prepared for, and the very specific kind of trouble two journalists find when they ask one question too many.
