📢 Update & News 📢

Greetings Seekers! 💐🌻☕

Time for a small update as its quite a lot is happening behind the scenes right now 🦏

⚙️ General

We’re currently in a very “building the backbone” phase. Not the most exciting from the outside, but super important for how fast (and smoothly) we can move later. We’re trying to set things up properly this time so we don’t end up fighting our own systems again 😅 And behold, in the header, you can find the awaited progress tracker! Art and animation are currently set to 0 - that is not because we don't have anything yet, that's just because I haven't counted yet how many assets we can reuse from the previous version, and how many new ones we need. You can only keep so many plates in the air at once! I will have it updated for you on the next one. The tracker applies to the next batch coming, and for each delivery, we will be resetting the tracker. We have a bit of an advantage with technicalities due to previous releases 🙏

🔧 Coding

-We made sure that save files will work with future updates - I mean, we’re doing everything we can to future-proof the game. Hopefully nothing breaks… but you know how it goes 🙏

-We introduced negative relationship points (ohohohohohoho 👀) Yes, you can now actively make things worse. MUCH worse: have a beef with one of the girls? This is your time to shine 💢

-We updated map logic and event priorities, because now we finally have enough content that things actually need to compete with each other 🔥

-We also added internal tools for easier dialogue import into Unity, which saves us a huge amount of manual work, and even more sanity 🙈

Changes to code in Github--hohoho 🤶🏻

Next: We’ll be getting rid of part of the inventory system section to accommodate achievements 😈

📝 Writing

Oh boy… stuff is happening here. We roughly drafted the whole game... all the important events. Now that we have the general (many) direction(s), the only thing left is connecting the dots with lots of events, and lots of naughty naughty thingies 😈 We planned the main storylines (and quite a few side ones too) for all waifus, then built everything around that. We divided the story into deliverable batches and started writing like crazy. But this time we’re building it in a more efficient way: We wrote a lot of short placeholder events, already loaded them into the game (hello dialogue import tool 👀), and we’re using them to test flow, pacing and density of events. Later we’ll trim things, move stuff around, add more where needed. But the key difference is that we are writing intentionally. Every event gives you something: main story progression, romance, lore, items or -the most important one!!- smut! And in some occasions: all of the above 👀 No empty filler. No more getting stuck because there is just main quest available. No more stealing your precious time with nonsensical minigames: We want to make every minute you give us count 🤝 Also, this approach is pretty efficient too, because we’re basically playtesting while writing. The inside of dialogues might still change, but all the flags, conditions and connections are already there, so it should make everything smoother later. Numbers, for you, numbers freaks like me? Let’s just say we already have more events for Batch 1 than we had across all 3 batches before 😅

🎨 Art

Art is currently not in full production, because I personally stopped CptPopcorn from painting anything (you're welcome) 😄 We just want to make sure we don’t end up trashing half of it again. That said, sketches are still happening here and there. But we also slightly changed how we approach it: if Cpt really wants to paint a scene, we either: build a scenario around it or it goes into the “too cringe” bucket.

Also, a few 'artist choice' changes: Farah’s dress got redesigned (the old one was… not great 😅). The new dress will be featured in all new Farah artworks, but the dialogue rig will have to wait. And… We changed Eris’ name to Dahlia. We kept mixing up Eris and Eria, a constant struggle! We didn’t really think it through when naming two characters so similarly. At first we weren’t sure about the change, but it kind of grew on us. After a couple times of reading her new name, it sticks! 😙👌 Hope you’ll like Lady Dahlia too 💜

🧠 General Thoughts

We learned a lot, and it shows in how we’re approaching things now. We’re trying to build something better this time, more intentional, more structured, and just… working properly. And as always, we’re incredibly grateful for your support ❤️ More soon 👀
