Character Rework Notice – Kalina & Samarika

Hello, this is the Horizon Walker Development Team.

First of all, thank you to all Human Gods for your continued support and passion for Horizon Walker.

With the update scheduled for January 15, 2026 (Thu), we will be rolling out a rework for the existing characters Kalina and Samarika.

In the current meta, both characters have struggled to make a meaningful impact in combat, which has limited their overall usage.

Because of this, we felt it was important to revisit their designs—clarifying their core identities, strengthening their tactical roles, and improving how powerful they feel in real gameplay.

This rework is not just a numbers buff.

Our goal was to preserve each character’s original playstyle and “feel,” while raising their overall performance to a level that feels satisfying and competitive in today’s combat environment.

We’ve been especially careful to ensure that this update does not feel like a nerf to existing players.

Skills and signature weapon effects have been refined with particular attention to smooth, intuitive synergy with Palekar, making team play feel more natural and impactful.

Ultimately, we want Kalina and Samarika to fully embody their original concepts—while becoming reliable, rewarding choices you’ll genuinely want to bring into battle.

Thank you for your ongoing feedback. We’ll continue improving Horizon Walker together with you.

General Changes

Shared Passive: Hunter on the Vine

\[Design Intent]

To better highlight Kalina and Samarika’s identity as high-mobility melee fighters, we’ve improved the overall effectiveness and clarity of their shared passive, which links movement with offense.

Previously, its impact was limited and often difficult to feel in actual combat. With this update, movement now meaningfully enhances every offensive action, reinforcing their intended hit-and-run playstyle.

Changes

\[Buff]: Stronger attack performance tied to movement

\[Adjustment]: Effect now applies to all attacks, not just basic attacks

\[Adjustment]: Removed low-impact options and streamlined the passive into a clearer, movement-focused design

Kalina Rework

Skill Adjustments

Double Down

\[Design Intent]

Kalina was designed to apply constant pressure in close combat, but in practice, high entry risk combined with low survivability made aggressive play feel unrewarding.

This rework converts Kalina’s mobility and evasion into direct offensive power, allowing her to take initiative and control the pace of battle.

Changes

\[Buff]: Evasion-based offensive scaling

\[Buff]: Improved action efficiency and survivability support

\[Adjustment]: Stronger synergy with select trait-based allies

Blades of Tyranny

\[Design Intent]

Long downtime made this skill hard to fit naturally into combat rotations. We’ve reduced its friction so Kalina can maintain pressure more consistently.

Changes

\[Buff]: Increased damage output

\[Buff]: Easier setup and more frequent use

Survival Expert

\[Design Intent]

To address Kalina disengaging too easily after committing to a fight, we’ve reinforced her ability to stay in combat during high-risk situations.

Changes

\[Buff]: Improved combat endurance

Signature Weapon Adjustments

Unique Effect: The Edge Runner

\[Design Intent]

Previously, the weapon’s effects felt too scattered to have a strong impact. This update sharpens Kalina’s core combat loop:

Movement → Strike → Lifesteal → Burst

Changes

\[Buff]: Improved melee sustain

\[Buff]: Stronger movement-based attack performance

Kalina Signature: Persistence

\[Design Intent]

These changes strengthen Kalina’s synergy with Palekar while also smoothing out her solo performance, ensuring her combat rhythm remains uninterrupted.

Changes

\[Buff]: Added evasion-based DMG Boost

\[Buff]: Improved usability of key skills

\[Buff]: Additional effects that help maintain combat flow after major skill use

Samarika Rework

Skill Adjustments

Fang of the Swamp

\[Design Intent]

Despite being Samarika’s signature move, its performance relative to AP cost limited its usefulness. This skill has been reworked into a powerful single-target finisher.

Changes

\[Buff]: Increased damage

\[Buff]: Added evasion-based Additional Damage

\[Adjustment]: Improved cooldown structure

Hunter's Intuition

\[Design Intent]

To better emphasize Samarika’s hunter identity and reward aggressive play, we’ve added stacking bonuses that trigger on successful attacks.

Changes

\[Buff]: New stacking enhancement effects on hit

Signature Weapon Adjustments

Samarika Signature: Owl Huntress

\[Design Intent]

The previous effects were overly complex and hard to feel. This revision focuses Samarika’s identity around slow synergies, poison damage, and critical strikes, significantly improving her ability to dominate single targets.

Changes

\[Buff]: Added evasion-based DMG Boost

\[Buff]: Stronger synergy against slowed enemies

\[Buff]: Improved combat flow after key skill usage

\[Adjustment]: Simplified activation conditions and overall structure

Final Notes

This rework is designed to preserve Kalina and Samarika’s unique identities while ensuring they remain meaningful, competitive picks in the current combat environment.

We expect players to feel especially clear and satisfying synergy when pairing them with Palekar. As always, we’ll continue refining characters based on live data and your valuable feedback.
