[Great News!? My PC’s Dead!!] Guess It’s Time for a New Rig!
My main PC died last week...
It had been freezing quite often recently, so I had a feeling this day might be coming—and unfortunately, it finally did.
I tried various recovery methods, but since it showed similar symptoms to when my sub PC failed before, it’s probably the SSD that gave out this time.
Come to think of it, I’ve been using this PC for over five years now.
Considering that I’ve been running Unity and Maya almost every day, it’s impressive it lasted this long under such heavy workload.
I did consider sending it in for repairs, but since it would take time to ship and return—and the cost was uncertain—I decided to take the plunge and buy a new PC instead!
I ordered it from Dospara again, and to my surprise, it arrived much faster than expected.
I was prepared to wait one or two weeks, but I received the shipping notice within just two or three days!
It arrived this week, and after finishing all the setup work—software installations, device configurations, etc.—I’m now in the process of restoring the data I lost.
Unfortunately, my last external backup was about a week before the crash, so I’m currently redoing about one week’s worth of work.
Thankfully, the lost data was mostly related to modeling and animation work in Maya and Substance Painter.
The Unity work I lost was mainly light testing and coding adjustments for gameplay, so it could have been much worse.
If it had been core gameplay data, finding and restoring all the modified parts would’ve been a nightmare.
For now, I’ll be focused on restoration work for a little while longer, but I’m aiming for the next major update in December.
Thank you for your patience and continued support!
This time, I went with the GALLERIA series from Dospara again.
Since I was curious about how different CPUs affect game performance, I switched from Intel to Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
The GPU is now a GeForce 5080, which is roughly a two-generation leap—and I’m honestly amazed at how powerful it feels! 😆
Whenever I hit a creative wall during development, I somehow end up making new costumes.
I’m not sure why—it’s just the most relaxing thing to do, both technically and mentally.
Costumes are easier to plan out if I have references, and they’re simpler to implement compared to other tasks.
So when things aren’t going smoothly, I find myself “escaping” into costume creation (lol).
That’s… probably why the number of costumes keeps increasing. 😂
