About This Game

A fair warning - Developer's note.

This game is my first game. It is also the first time I am creating 3D art. As a result, the visuals are fairly rough at the start of the game and there are no animations until Chapter 3. The promotional images you see ARE screenshots taken from the game. Another not-so-good thing is that routing is difficult to understand. Again, this is my first attempt to make a game and I had no idea what I was doing when I started. A walkthrough .pdf file is included with the game.

Synopsis:

One Lie is an adult visual story-based novel about a young man, his best friend, people he encounters along the way, his past and his future.

Story:

You and Julie (you will have a choice to change their names) have been best friends since a young age. You are best friends and have been through a lot together. Julie is the only person in this world whom you trust implicitly. And to you, loyalty and trust are the most important parts of life. The two of you are getting ready to enter college.

However, Julie makes a mistake. In the heat of the moment, she lies to your girlfriend about the closeness of your friendship. It breaks your heart and your trust in her. You feel betrayed. Not only is she the closest person to you she lies about you, thus using you to hurt someone. You decide that it would be best to go to another college and do so on your own, away from Julie.
Did you overreact? You don't feel that way. You have been betrayed and used in the past, by those closest to you. Your parents. You cannot allow that in your life. So you leave.
Julie realizes what she has done and most importantly that she is in love with you. She chases after you. She is willing to do whatever it takes to, at least, be forgiven by you. And to tell you what she feels for you.
Will you forgive her? Do you have feelings for her?
That is up to you to decide. But along the way you will encounter another young lady. How will that encounter affect your choice going forward?

Gameplay:

This is a choice-based game. Whom you choose to date will affect not only you but also what happens to other characters. As of Chapter 4, your choices will split the game into separate stories.

The main characters.

The MC (you) - Just your average young man. With a secret about his past that not even his best friend is privy to. He has suffered but is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Julie. (player will be able to change her name)
Your best friend. You have been friends since a very young age. Always there for each other through thick and thin, Through sad times and a lot of laughs.
She is a troublemaker but until now she has never betrayed your trust.

Anh.
She is shy and is a very intelligent young woman. She has very controlling but loving parents and is trying to break away from their control. They allow her to be her own person but are still having a hard time letting go of their control. For fear of losing her.
From the moment she saw you, she sensed that there was something wrong. She wants to help you. But may have accidentally fallen in love with you. She can become the love of your life or a close friend.

Alex
An orphan with a huge heart. She develops a crush on Julie but is willing to ignore her feelings in order to help her new friend seek forgiveness from MC. Her dream is not only to have children of her own but to work with children. To achieve one of these dreams she is studying child psychology and early childhood education.

Yana
We have yet to learn much about this young lady. What we do know is that she works hard at her part-time job and is the sole caretaker for her disabled father. She would like to attend college but she has little time between her work and taking care of her father.

Carol
Julie's aunt. She is a former police officer who was forced to quit her job to take care of Julie when her parents perished in a motor vehicle accident. She has also grown close to MC, who spent a lot of time at their home in order to hide from his abusive father.

Bobbie
She is a bar owner and Carol's lover/Girlfriend (they haven't yet figured out where they stand. She is a no-nonsense, funny woman. She is also close to both MC and Julie.
